Karnataka says 1500 returned from ‘Hot spot’ Mosque

BENGALURU:

In a shocking revelation, the Karnataka Government said that 1500 people from Karnataka had returned from Tablighi Jamaat, a religious congregation held in New Delhi.

Health and Family Welfare Department additional chief secretary Jawaid Akhtar revealed this during a presser held on Wednesday evening. He said: “A total of 1500 people from the state had returned from the Tablighi Jamaat, a religious congregation in Delhi in early March. Of this, 800 people have been contacted and screened. The swabs of symptomatic persons will be tested at the earliest.”

He further said that a total of 143 swab samples have been taken from these people and will be tested soon.

Last week, A 60 year old person from Sira town in Tumakuru had attended the congregation and died after he was infected with covid-19.
