Department of Collegiate and Technical Education ties up with online learning platform Unacademy

BENGALURU:

To enhance the ‘competitive examination’ ability of Kannadiga students and their employability in the administrative and public domain services of the state government, an MoU was inked between the Department of Collegiate and Technical Education (DCTE) and leading online learning platform Unacademy on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, DyCM and Higher Education Minister CN Ashwath Narayan said the tie-up would better prepare students to benefit from the opportunities of around 3 lakh jobs every year in several government departments.

The objective of the programme is to hone the intellect, ability and talent of Kannadiga students through expert training so that their potential is identified at the national/state level in the administrative services of the Central and state governments and services like banking, he said.

3-year programme

Under the MoU, coaching for competitive examinations will be given to 1,500 students every year for a period of 3 years (2021-2024), and a total of 4,500 students will be trained. Students will be selected for the training programme based on their performance in an online examination conducted every 6 months, Narayan said.

Scholarships will be available as well as a free subscription to ‘Unacademy Plus’. The potential beneficiaries of this programme are final year or pre-final year students of UG/PG courses of government first-grade colleges, polytechnics, engineering colleges and universities.

The MoU was signed by P Pradeep, Commissioner, DCTE, and Vivek Sinha, COO of Unacademy. G Kumar Nayak, ACS (Higher Education) was among those present on the occasion.
