Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has issued a signed order renaming the North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) as the Kittur Rani Chennamma Road Transport Corporation.
The order is dated November 5, 2026. It converts the renaming proposal announced in late October into a formal government order.

Six districts in the corporation’s service area
The corporation serves Belagavi, Uttara Kannada, Bagalkot, Dharwad, Gadag and Haveri districts in north-west Karnataka.
The order changes the official name of the state-run road transport corporation serving these six districts. No additional implementation condition has been inferred from the continuation page.
Signed order is the new development
The government had announced the proposed renaming on October 26. The November 5 signed order is the subsequent administrative step and is therefore distinct from the earlier announcement.
No timeline for changing buses, stations, tickets, digital services or branding is stated in the facts reviewed for this report.
