Bengaluru: Karnataka food-safety teams inspected 45 packaged drinking-water units on October 29, collected 32 samples for government laboratory testing and issued notices to 24 units, Health Minister U.T. Khader said.
Inspectors reported unhygienic conditions, missing medical certificates for staff, missing FSSAI licences, labelling defects and absent pest-control certificates. Water bottles with labelling violations were seized from three units in Mysuru and Davanagere, while one unit in Mulbagal in Kolar district was shut for unhygienic conditions, the minister said.
Packaged-water samples await laboratory testing
The samples have been sent to government food laboratories. The department’s update did not give test results. A separate operation notice said 23 food-safety teams had been assigned across districts for inspections on October 29 and 30. Khader said inspections would continue regularly.
The department urged consumers to check a packaged-water bottle’s FSSAI licence number, ISI mark, manufacturing date and seal, and report concerns to food-safety officials.
