Revenue Dept’s order cites ex-minister SR Mahesh’s allegation that ‘illegal’ construction has ‘disturbed’ heritage status of DC’s residence

It seems the entire state government machinery is gunning for Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri. After another IAS officer, Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner Shilpa Nag, alleged harassment by her, the state government has sought a report on the construction of a swimming pool in the official residence of the Mysuru DC.
In the latest development, the Revenue Department, which oversees the work of all the Deputy Commissioners and Regional Commissioners, has issued an order to the Mysuru Regional Commissioner to furnish a detailed report on the construction of the swimming pool.
KN Murthy, Deputy Secretary, in his order has referred to a complaint received from former minister and MLA SR Mahesh and others alleging that the Mysuru DC had ‘illegally’ constructed a swimming pool in the official residence, thereby ‘disturbing’ the heritage status of the building.
Newspaper reports cited
The departmental order notes that the ‘attached complaint’ refers to newspaper reports of around Rs 50 lakh having been spent on the construction of a swimming pool and gym in the DC’s official residence. Quoting the complaint, the order says the DC’s residence is a heritage building and no such construction is permitted. Murthy has sought a detailed report in seven days from the Mysuru Regional Commissioner.
Replying to a query from TheBengaluruLive, Sindhuri said: “False and misleading information has been spread. The work was done in January and no misuse of any funds has happened. There is no violation of any heritage structure rules or any rules whatsoever. Detailed report is submitted to govt.”
