Bengaluru: Karnataka Congress has said 2.54 lakh of the 2.63 lakh cases filed before the consumer disputes redressal commission have been resolved, and claimed that Karnataka ranks fourth among states in providing speedy justice to consumers.
The party put the disposal rate at 96% and said 59% of judgments were in favour of consumers. It shared the figures in a Kannada statement accompanied by a video on October 11.
Disposal and consumer relief
The figures describe two different aspects of the commission’s work: the proportion of filed cases disposed of and the share of judgments that favoured consumers. The party’s statement did not equate disposal of a case with a judgment in the consumer’s favour.
Congress described Karnataka as a model for consumer-rights protection, speedy justice and public service, saying the protection of people’s rights was its responsibility.
Period and ranking details not specified
The post did not specify the period covered by the cumulative case totals or identify the report or assessment behind the fourth-place ranking. It also did not provide a year-wise breakdown or details of individual judgments.
The 2.63 lakh filed cases, 2.54 lakh resolved cases, 96% disposal rate and 59% consumer-favourable judgments are figures stated by Karnataka Congress. The post did not say these cases were all filed or resolved in the current year.
