BENGALURU:

Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi, who is also the Transport Minister, has sought the technological assistance of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in improving the efficiency of road transport corporations in Karnataka. Savadi met ISRO chairman K Sivan at the space agency’s headquarters on Wednesday in this regard.

According to a release from the Minister’s office, “The discussions were on improving the functioning of the transport department, as well as improving the revenues of state transport corporations like Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), North East- and North West-KSRTC, and Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), by bringing down their expenses, using ISRO”s technology.”

According to sources, the transport department is working on improving efficiency and revenues, bringing down expenses and arresting leakages, while maintaining the transparency of the state transport system.

The ISRO chief reportedly agreed to provide technical assistance on these issues.
