BENGALURU:

Is Bengaluru safe for girls? This question has been raised in light of a recent incident that occurred in posh Jayanagar, stone throw away from Deputy Commissioner of Police’s (South) office.

The incident involved a young woman being molested by an assailant who pulled her clothes in the middle of the road. Shockingly, this incident took place right in front of the DCP’s office (south) on South End Circle on November 6, but it only came to light later.

The assailant, riding a bike, followed the young woman as she was heading home after work. He then proceeded to pull her clothes near South End Circle and subjected her to obscene words, causing immense distress and harassment.

Subsequently, it was discovered that the accused made a U-turn and fled the scene. The incident occurred around 10:40 pm, and the victim filed a case at the Jayanagar police station, albeit with some delay. A search operation has been launched to apprehend the perpetrator.

This incident has sparked concerns about the safety of girls in Bengaluru. It serves as a reminder that such incidents can occur even in seemingly secure areas. It is crucial for authorities to take swift action and ensure the safety and well-being of all residents, particularly women.
