Bengaluru: Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner Rajendra Cholan has actively participated in the self-enumeration process for Census 2027, urging citizens to come forward and complete their details through the digital platform.

India’s Census 2027 is being conducted in a fully digital format for the first time. Citizens within the Bengaluru Central City Corporation limits can complete the self-enumeration process between April 1 and April 15, 2026, using mobile phones or computers via the official portal https://se.census.gov.in in just 10–15 minutes.

The Commissioner appealed to residents to participate in the process, stating that accurate data collection will play a crucial role in improving housing, infrastructure, and public services in Bengaluru.

Addressing officials and staff at a preparatory meeting held at the P.U.B. Building on M.G. Road, Rajendra Cholan emphasized that all departments must work as a coordinated team to ensure error-free execution of Census 2027 activities.

To facilitate training, six centres have been identified across key Assembly constituencies, including CV Raman Nagar, Shivajinagar, Shantinagar, Gandhinagar, Chamarajpet, and Chikkapete. Dedicated teams led by revenue officers have been appointed to oversee operations at each centre.

Training for enumerators and supervisors is scheduled between April 6 and April 8, 2026. Authorities have made it clear that attendance is mandatory, and strict action will be taken against staff who fail to participate.

The administration has warned that non-compliance could lead to criminal cases under the Census Act, 1948, FIRs under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, suspension, disciplinary action, and marking of absence as ‘dies non’.

The house listing and housing census phase will be conducted from April 16 to May 15, 2026.

Senior officials, including Additional Commissioner (Development) Daljit Kumar and Additional Commissioner (Revenue) K. Ranganath, along with deputy commissioners and revenue officers, were present at the meeting.
