Bengaluru: An Infosys employee, identified as Nagesh Mali, has been arrested by the Electronic City Police for allegedly filming more than 30 women employees using the company restroom without their consent. The accused, originally from Andhra Pradesh, was caught red-handed recording videos from atop a commode inside the women’s washroom.
According to police sources, the accused had positioned himself secretly and used his mobile phone to record footage of female colleagues using the restroom. His actions came to light when a reflection on the restroom door was noticed by an HR staff member during a routine check, revealing Mali’s presence and misconduct.
The incident caused panic and outrage among employees. When one of the women spotted the mobile phone recording, she raised an alarm. Mali reportedly apologized on the spot, but the company initially attempted to settle the matter quietly, sources claimed.
However, after the husband of one of the affected employees learned about the incident, he approached the company and later filed a complaint with the Electronic City Police. An FIR has now been registered, and Nagesh Mali is currently in police custody undergoing interrogation.
Authorities also seized Mali’s phone, which allegedly contained videos of over 30 women employees recorded in similar fashion. The investigation is ongoing, and police are examining whether the videos were shared or stored with malicious intent.
The incident has sparked serious questions about internal safety protocols and surveillance practices within corporate offices, particularly in sensitive areas like restrooms.
