Hubballi: A kite-flying celebration should not put a rider, pedestrian or bird in danger, Hubballi–Dharwad City Police have warned, urging residents to avoid manja thread.

In an advisory issued on Thursday evening, the police said the thread can pose a threat to the lives of two-wheeler riders, people walking on the streets and birds.

Warning extends to sale and storage

The police said appropriate legal action would be taken against people involved in the preparation, sale, storage or use of manja. The warning therefore extends beyond those flying kites to those supplying and keeping the thread.

“Let your celebration not endanger someone else’s life,” the police said in their appeal.

The advisory specifically refers to manja thread.
