DGP Sood says owners can be prosecuted in such cases
CHIKKAMAGALUR:
With lockdown restrictions mostly lifted and tourists streaming back to Chikkamagalur, incidents of drug consumption are also likely to increase. Keeping that in mind, the local police have been keeping a close watch on home stays in the district.
On Monday, DGP Praveen Sood warned home stay owners that they would be held responsible for any drug use case in their premises.
Speaking to reporters here, Sood said, “If the owners inform us, we will reward them. If they try to hide it, they will be punished. Drugs should be controlled not just by the police, it is also the responsibility of home stay owners.”
In this connection. the DGP praised the district police for keeping a tight check on illicit activities during the lockdown period of nearly six months.
