BENGALURU:
It’s not all ‘Covid fixation’ for the BBMP as the civic body inaugurated a hi-tech police kiosk near its headquarters at Hudson Circle on Friday. The kiosk is one of 23 currently operational across the city.
The kiosks will provide considerable relief to traffic police. They are equipped with anti-glare glass, CCTVs, multi-messaging displays, megaphones, mobile charging points, fans and first-aid boxes.
The civic body plans to install such kiosks at 340 signals across the city. Each kiosk will cost around Rs 8 lakh.  As the kiosks are constructed under a PPP model, BBMP aims to generate Rs 20 lakh per year by renting out space in the kiosks for advertisements.
The kiosks are currently operational at Hudson Circle, Police Corner, Trinity Junction, K.H. Road, Shantinagar Junction, Cash Pharmacy Junction, Opera Junction, Minsk Square, Anil Kumble Junction, Anand Rao Circle, K.R. Circle and Chalukya Junction.
