BBMP, Manipal Health tie up on lab which will provide 140 different tests at discounts up to 50%

BENGALURU:

BBMP and Manipal Health Enterprises signed an MoU on Thursday to set up a hi-tech lab in Malleswaram to provide medical testing facilities for economically weaker sections at discounted rates.

The MoU was inked in the presence of Dr CN Ashwath Narayan, Minister for Higher Education and IT/BT, who is also the MLA from Malleswaram.

“As per the MoU, the lab will start functioning in 45 days on the first floor of the BengaluruOne building near the Chandrashekhar Azad sports ground. It will offer 30% reduced rates compared to other diagnostic centres. Besides, there will be a discount of 50% for BPL cardholders and a reduction of 40% for APL cardholders. This discount can be availed by those who come with prescriptions from PHCs or government hospitals,” the Minister explained.

Dr Narayan said the lab, which will be set up under the PPP (public-private partnership) model, will have facilities for 140 different tests, including X-Ray, ultrasound, ECG and PFT. The building space will be provided by BBMP, and the facilities will be installed by Manipal Health. Such labs will be set up in other parts of the city based on the success of this centre.

Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commissioner, BBMP, D Randeep, Special Commissioner (Health), Dr Vijayendra, BBMP Chief Health Officer, Deepak Venugopalan, CEO, Manipal Health, and Dr Murali, Clinical Operation Head, Manipal Health, were present.
