British Deputy High Commissioner Jeremy Pilmore-Bedford and Karnataka Minister Ashwath Narayan worked together on several hi-tech collaborations

The outgoing UK Deputy High Commissioner in Bengaluru, Jeremy Pilmore-Bedford, in a ‘farewell meeting’ with Dr CN Ashwath Narayan, Karnataka Minister for Higher Education, IT/BT and S&T, at Vikasa Soudha on Thursday, discussed collaborations between the UK and Karnataka in cyber security, telecom, R&D, e- vehicle policy and vaccine R&D, among other things.

Pilmore-Bedford thanked the Minister for the cooperation extended in various ways during his tenure. Both had played a major role in identifying four areas of collaboration — Fintech, Artificial Intelligence, Waste Management and Traffic Congestion– in October 2019. They had also launched the ‘Go Global’ programme two years back to support early-stage tech start-ups and had initiated discussions to set up regulatory sandboxes in collaboration.

Fruitful tenure
During the UK envoy’s tenure, companies from Britain participated in the technical flagship event, ‘Bengaluru Tech Summit-BTS’, in large numbers.
Katy Budge, Minister Counsellor, British High Commission, New Delhi, was present during the meeting.
