Bengaluru: Nearly 1.12 lakh registered beneficiaries under BESCOM are yet to be covered by the Gruha Jyothi survey, based on the utility’s rounded figures, with October 31 set as the final deadline to complete verification. Consumers missed during door-to-door visits must submit the required documents in person at their respective BESCOM sub-divisional offices.
BESCOM said there would be no further extension. As of October 22, it had surveyed 73.17 lakh of the 74.29 lakh registered beneficiaries across its eight districts, achieving 98.49% coverage.
What consumers who missed the survey should do
The final opportunity is meant for eligible consumers whose homes were locked or vacant during staff visits, as well as those who could not participate for other reasons. They should visit their respective sub-divisional offices with the required documents on or before October 31, BESCOM said.
The utility’s beneficiary total includes Bhagya Jyothi, Kuteera Jyothi and Amruta Jyothi beneficiaries. The figures indicate that approximately 1.12 lakh registered beneficiaries remain to be surveyed; the estimate is derived from the rounded totals supplied by BESCOM.
Repeated home visits and SMS reminders
The survey has been underway for the past three and a half months. BESCOM staff and meter readers have visited locked and vacant homes up to three times and sent reminders to consumers’ registered mobile numbers.
The State Government has provided this final office-based opportunity to ensure that eligible consumers missed during the visits can submit their details. BESCOM reiterated that the exercise closes on October 31.
