BENGALURU: Four Pakistani nationals who were living in Karnataka were expatriated in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack. The state government has deported four Pakistani nationals who were in the state on temporary visas. However, 91 Pakistani nationals with long-term visas have not been deported, as the central government has not directed deportation of Pakistani Hindus with long-term visas.
There is a tradition in the Navayat community of Bhatkal of marrying Pakistanis, and after marriage, the central government provides long-term visas to these individuals. As a result, 91 Pakistani nationals with long-term visas are settled in the state, including 14 in Bhatkal and one in Karwar, who have children with them.
Apart from these, there are Pakistani nationals residing in various parts of the state, including Bengaluru, Kalaburagi, Mangaluru, Mysuru, and others.
In Davanagere, one Pakistani national is pursuing the final year of MBBS, and the period has not yet expired. Therefore, the state government has only deported the four Pakistani nationals with short-term visas based on FRRO information.
