NELAMANGALA:
Little could Bengaluru city police commissioner Bhaskar Rao have guessed that one of his own men would be a curfew violator on Sunday, when vehicles were supposed to be off the roads except for essential services.
PSI Manjunath of Nelamangala in Bengaluru Rural was on curfew duty when he stopped a car that was carrying more than the stipulated number of passengers. The driver’s excuse was that he was heading to a marriage ceremony.
When the sub-inspector admonished the driver, the latter abused him and said he knew the “higher officials”. The driver was later identified as Suresh, a constable of the Banaswadi police station in Bengaluru city. He has been taken into custody by the Nelamangala town police.
