Five cases against Hindu activist Suhas Shetty too, says Home minister Parameshwara

Date:

BENGALURU: Home Minister G Parameshwara stated that no one from the government had visited Suhas Shetty’s family as five cases, including murder, were registered against him. However, the government will ensure justice is served in his murder case, Parameshwara said.

Parameshwara dismissed doubts surrounding the accused in the Hindu worker’s murder case, saying it’s not possible to comment on who the real culprits are without a thorough investigation.

He also mentioned the leaders of the Muslim community came and met him in Mangalurru on Saturday. “How can anyone say no? People from other communities could have come too, but no one came”, he said.

Suhas Shetty was murdered by a group of 5-6 assailants in Mangaluru on  Thursday night.

Speaking about a government representative’s visit to Suhas Shetty’s family and the fact that no one consoled them, he said, “This is a murder case. There are cases against Suhas Shetty too, five cases against him. So, we did not visit his family”.

Responding to doubts raised about whether those arrested in the Hindu activist’s murder case are the real accused, he said, “How can anyone simply be made an accused? It is not possible to arrest just about anyone in a murder case”.

Regarding BJP’s demand for an NIA investigation into the murder case, Parameshwara stated that the police department is capable of handling the case, and eight people have already been arrested.

He added that the government will provide justice to the family of Suhas Shetty and dismissed BJP’s allegations, saying murders occurred during their tenure as well. Parameshwara assured that all necessary steps are being taken to prevent and investigate crimes, and instructions have been given to SPs to be vigilant.
