BBMP chief says such ‘unsafe’ building practices will henceforth not be permitted
BENGALURU:
A day after the blaze in a Bommanahalli apartment in which 2 women perished because one route to safety was blocked by the safety grills of their flat’s balcony, BBMP on Wednesday issued a circular warning against these ‘unsafe’ building practices.
According to the circular, in the BBMP limits, as per the building construction guidelines of 2003 and the National Building Code of India of 2016, the plan sanction, commencement certificate and occupancy certificate should be obtained, and no closures to the balcony must be provided.
BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta stated in the circular that such ‘unsafe practices’ have been observed across the city, and would not be permitted in future.
