FIR Filed Against Four for Dumping Garbage at Beautified Banaswadi Black Spot
Bengaluru, July 26: Four persons have been booked for allegedly dumping garbage at a beautified former black spot in Banaswadi after refusing to pay a penalty imposed by civic authorities.
The incident occurred at a garbage black spot on 7th Main Road in Banaswadi, Ward No. 27 of Sarvajnanagar Division, which had recently been cleared and beautified as part of efforts to eliminate chronic waste dumping. Following the clean-up, awareness campaigns were conducted among local residents, and ward marshals were deployed to monitor the location and prevent fresh dumping.
According to the civic body, ward marshals on night patrol on July 16 noticed four individuals illegally dumping waste at the site. When the marshals stopped them and initiated action to impose penalties as per the rules, the individuals allegedly refused to pay the fine and left the garbage at the location before leaving.
Based on a complaint filed by the Assistant General Manager of the Sarvajnanagar Division of the Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML), the Banaswadi Police registered an FIR against the four accused under Section 280 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Further investigation is being carried out by the police.
The civic body said strict penal and legal action will continue against anyone found dumping waste at permanently cleared and beautified garbage black spots, disposing of waste in public places, or engaging in activities that compromise public cleanliness.
