After stalling for hours, Padarayanapura corporator Pasha agrees to quarantine

BENGALURU:

An FIR has been filed against Covid-positive Padarayanapura corporator Imran Pasha for his refusal to go into quarantine.

On Saturday, Pasha created ‘high drama’ with hundreds of his supporters gathered near his house. The health authorities have lodged a complaint with the JJ Nagar police.

A case has been registered under IPC sections 188 (interference with government officials), 270 (attempt to spread the virus) and 271 (violation of quarantine).

Refused to cooperate

Pasha was diagnosed with the coronavirus on Friday but was hospitalized only by mid-day on Saturday owing to his initial refusal to get admitted.

He remained adamant even after the police, health staff, his father Arif and MLA Zameer Ahmed spoke to him.

Finally, after 3 hours, when the police warned him of arrest, Pasha stepped out of his house in a PPE kit, shook hands with his followers, and was taken in an ambulance to Victoria Hospital.

Pasha was in contact with around 200 people, all of whom will now be quarantined. There has been widespread outrage over the corporator’s behaviour, with Health Minister Sriramulu and Revenue Minister Ashok calling for strict action against him.
