BENGALURU: The Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments department has launched an e-prasad service, allowing devotees to receive temple offerings at their doorsteps. The service will be available from 400 temples across the state within the next 15 days.
The department had initially launched a pilot project for online prasad delivery from 10 major temples in the state. The project received a positive response, with over 25,000 devotees availing themselves of the service.
The E-prasad service aims to benefit devotees who cannot physically visit temples, such as the elderly, differently-abled individuals, and those with infants or pregnant women. Devotees can book prasad from their preferred temple online and have it delivered to their homes.
Dr Venkatesh, Commissioner, Muzarai department, “We started this as a pilot scheme and are getting an overwhelming response from devotees, including Mookambika temple, Chamundeshwari temple, Kukke Subrahmanya, Dattatreya temple and Renuka Yellamma temple. We are planning to expand the service to the remaining temples soon. According to the Service Centre’s Nodal Officer, about one lakh devotees inquired about the online booking, and the department also has expectations about the scheme’s success. This is the time to get benefit from online service”.
The benefits of the E-prasad service include
- Elderly devotees can receive their preferred temple’s prasad at their doorstep.
- Differently-abled individuals, including the visually impaired, can also avail themselves of this service.
- Devotees with infants or pregnant women can book prasad online without having to physically visit the temple.
- During special occasions and festivals, when temples are crowded, devotees can avoid the rush and have prasad delivered to their doorstep.
