On Monday, at 10 AM all the 198 ward committees will be meeting to join the fight against covid-19
BENGALURU:
Now, booth-level task forces in conjunction with ward committees will supplement the government’s efforts in controlling the spread of the coronavirus in Bengaluru city.
Each of the 198 BBMP wards ward has 30-50 polling booths. Each booth caters to 1,500-2,000 voters. Each booth-level task force will have 4 Group C employees as members and 10 volunteers.

Task force duties
- Raising awareness about the coronavirus
- Providing guidance treatment to asymptomatic patients
- Collecting health info and submitting to ward committee
- Coordinating survey work at the booth level
- Raising awareness about masks, hygiene, etc
- Providing the ward committee with information on whether the home quarantinee is in compliance
- Contacting the infected person’s primary contacts
- Assisting the Primary Health Centre, Covid Care Centre and Fever Clinic
- Working with the ward committee and NGOs
- Collecting information on SARI/ILI cases, pregnancy, diabetes, BP and other issues and informing the ward committee
Ward committee duties
- The 10-member ward committee must meet weekly to review the situation
- Collecting data about infected persons. Sending booth-level and ward-level reports to the Joint Commissioner
- Recruiting volunteers at the booth level for emergency work. Reporting on persons over the age of 60, children, BP and sugar cases, and pregnant women. Providing guidance to those in quarantine and monitoring them along with the booth committee
- Ensuring the cleanliness of the home of the quarantinee and the cleanliness of the surrounding area. Getting infected to the nearest Fever Clinic. Making arrangements to keep them in isolation until the report arrives. If the test comes back positive, following up with a Covid Care Centre or hospital
