Bengaluru: In a mysterious broad daylight robbery that raises more questions than answers, a gang of 6–7 armed men stormed into a shop in MS Palya Circle under Vidyaranyapura Police Station limits and fled with ₹2 crore in cash and four mobile phones. The daring heist occurred around 4:30 PM on June 25 inside the premises of AK Enterprises, housed on the first floor of the Kundan Electronics building.
The victim, identified as Sriharsha, reportedly from Kengeri, had brought the cash to purchase machinery for his company. However, the plan allegedly shifted toward converting the funds into cryptocurrency through a known contact named Benjamin.
According to police sources, Sriharsha was inside the shop with Benjamin, counting the cash using a counting machine, when the masked assailants suddenly barged in wielding lethal weapons. They allegedly assaulted Sriharsha, held a knife to his neck, and looted the money and mobile phones before escaping.
Surprisingly, Benjamin and two of his friends who were present at the scene also fled soon after the robbers, raising suspicion of an inside job.
The Vidyaranyapura police have detained Benjamin and one of his associates for questioning. However, the suspects are reportedly denying any involvement. Police are now probing how the attackers learned about the large amount of cash and whether the crime was orchestrated internally.
With cryptocurrency connections, advance planning, and the sudden disappearance of key individuals, police say the case is far from a routine robbery and are working to uncover the complete conspiracy.
