New guidelines say no need to close Covid-affected apartments/educational institutions in Bengaluru
BENGALURU:
With Covid-19 cases rising in and around Bengaluru city since around a month, the state Covid-19 technical advisory committee, following a meeting on June 23, has issued fresh guidelines for testing, treatment and quarantine for clusters in apartments, offices and educational institutions.
Updated-COVID-19-Guidelines-for-BBMPThe guidelines include:
In the case of apartments, all symptomatics should be tested by RAT and isolated or hospitalized according to their medical condition. Additionally, those who test positive by RAT should undergo an RT-PCR test for genomic sequencing. High-risk persons, such as senior citizens, should also be tested via RT-PCR.
Among other precautionary measures for apartments, strict monitoring of Covid appropriate behaviour has been prescribed. In cases of a cluster, common facilities like swimming pool and clubhouse will be closed till the recovery of the last case.

In the case of offices and higher educational institutions, symptomatics should not attend office or college and should be tested via RAT. In case of a cluster, the office/college should be sanitized with 1% sodium hypochlorite solution.
In the case of schools, symptomatics should be tested via RAT. Even if RAT-negative, such cases should be tested via RT-PCR. For RAT-positive cases, RT-PCR tests should be done for genomic sequencing. Covid appropriate behaviour is prescribed and affected classrooms should be sanitized with 1% sodium hypochlorite solution.
The guidelines clarify that there is no need to close down affected areas of apartments or educational institutions during the pendency of a cluster.
