Covid-19: Bengaluru reports 20,870 infections, Karnataka sees 44,631 cases

Mysuru 2,293 positives, followed by 2,278 in Hassan and 1,636 in Tumakuru

BENGALURU:

On Tuesday, Bengaluru, reported another spike of 22,112 Covid-19 positive cases while Karnataka reported another spike of 44,631 cases overall.

Karnataka has now over 4.64 lakh active cases, of which 3.01 lakh are in Bengaluru alone.

After Bengaluru, Mysuru has also reported another spike of 2,293 positive cases reported on Monday. Hassan reported 2,278, Tumakuru 1,636, Mandya 1,506, Ballari 1,280, Kalaburagi 1,162, followed by other districts.

Bengaluru also witnessed 132 deaths, while the state reported 292, taking Karnataka’s case fatality rate to 0.65%. The state’s positivity rate now stands at an alarming 29.03%.

The day also saw 13,946 patients getting discharged after recovery in Bengaluru, while Karnataka overall saw 24,714 discharges.

Cumulatively, 16.90 lakh Covid-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which includes 16,538 deaths and 12,10,013 discharges,the Health Department said in a bulletin.

Among the 292 deaths reported on Tuesday, Bengaluru Urban accounted for 132, Ballari (27), Shivamogga (15), Tumakuru (14), Mysuru (10), eight each from Bagalkot, Chamarajanagar and Uttara Kannada, followed by others.
