BENGALURU:

There are no signs of the coronavirus slowing down in the state. While the number of positive cases crossed 7,000 on Saturday, there was a minor ‘respite’ when Sunday saw 5,985 fresh infections. The rate of recovery remained encouraging with 4,670 discharges statewide.

The total number of infected persons in the state is now1,78,087. Of these, 93,908 have been cured and discharged from hospitals. 3,198 people have died due to the infection. Further, 80,973 cases are active, of whom 678 are receiving treatment in ICUs.

Bengaluru witnessed 1,948 fresh cases on Sunday. With this, the number of positive cases in Silicon City has risen to 74,185. Of the total number of infected cases, 39,129 have recovered and 33,815 are active.

Apart from the state capital, the epidemic continues torment Mysuru and Ballari. 455 people were infected in Mysuru on Sunday and 380 positive cases were reported in Ballari.

Of the other districts, Udupi saw 282 fresh cases, Belagavi 235, Raichur 202, Dharwad 196, Kalaburagi 194, Hassan 168, Davanagere 158, Bagalkot 149, Shivamogga 149, Dakshina Kannada 132 and Vijayapura 129.

Somewhat less affected were Gadag at 114, Chikkamagalur 113, Koppal 106, Chitradurga 98, Bengaluru Rural 95, Yadagiri 91, Kolar 87, Haveri 80, Tumkur 78, Bidar 70, Mandya 63, Uttara Kannada 59, Chikkaballapur 47, Chamarajanagar 47, Ramanagara 38 and Kodagu 22.
