Tech hub has highest active cases at 796
Sunday also sees statewide spike of 453 cases

Unlock.1 has opened up the state’s capital and tech capital of the country not just to renewed business activity but also to the growing depredations of the deadly coronavirus. On Sunday, Bengaluru surpassed previous single-day highs with a spike of 196 Covid-positive cases. The city also recorded 3 of Karnataka’s 5 fatalities. The state as a whole saw another huge surge of 453 positive cases.

Bengaluru now has the highest number of active cases in the state — 796 out of 1,272. The city’ death toll of 64 is equally alarming.
Karnataka’s Covid stats now read: 9,150 positive cases, 137 deaths and 77 patients in ICUs. On a brighter note, Sunday also saw the discharge of 225 recovered patients.
Sunday’s new cases break-up is: Bengaluru 196, Ballari 40, Kalaburagi and Vijayapura 39, Mysuru and Gadag 18 each, Dharwar 15, Bagalkot 14, Bidar 13, Davanagere, Uttara Kannada and Kolar 8 each, Dakshina Kannada 7, Mandya and Hassan 5 each, Tumakuru 4, Yadagiri, Chikkaballapur and Haveri 3 each, Raichur, Shivamogga and Ramanagara 2 each, and Chikkamagalur 1.
On the flip side, the districts of Udupi, Belagavi, Bengaluru Rural, Chitradurga, Koppal and Chamarajanagar reported ‘zero’ positive cases.
