Cops summon ‘sex CD’ woman after her appeal for protection

The SIT set up to probe the case has already searched the residences of three persons and taken them into custody.

Earlier, an FIR was filed in the Sadashivanagar police station based on a complaint by Ramesh Jarkiholi about a ‘conspiracy’ against him.

Curious timing

Curiously, the woman’s video appeal for police protection came barely an hour after Jarkiholi’s police complaint. In it, she alleged that the ex-minister had himself released the ‘sex CD’ and claimed that she and her parents had tried to commit suicide a few times.

Taking cognizance of the issue, State Women’s Commission president Pramila Naidu told mediapersons that Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai has assured protection to the woman and her family. “I have seen the girl’s video. She has asked for protection. A suo motu case will be filed in the wake of this video. I have spoken to the police commissioner. The girl should not think of taking an extreme step…suicide is not a solution. The women’s commission is ready to provide her protection,” Naidu said.

So far, five persons have been arrested in connection with the case. On March 1, a day before the release of the ‘sex CD’, the suspects had allegedly held a meeting at an unknown place in RT Nagar. They had allegedly discussed the CD for more than an hour, and after its release had gone their separate ways.

Meanwhile, Ramesh Jarkiholi said the fact that the woman had surfaced after 12 days smacked of a conspiracy. “I have met the Home Minister. He has instructed the SIT to investigate the whole case thoroughly. I have appealed for a speedy investigation. That is why the girl has come out with the video. This is part of the conspiracy.”

On the woman’s allegation against him, Jarkiholi said, “If she wants to file a complaint, let her do so. I will face whatever comes. You will come to know after the investigation that I am innocent. I have not committed any mistake.”
