Murder accused assaulted them
BENGALURU:
The police shot an accused in a double murder when he tried to resist arrest early on Thursday.
The rowdy has been identified as Sanjay alias Chikappi, 27, a resident of Hanumanthanagar. Two persons, rowdy Mukund and his friend Manoj, were killed during a ‘compromise meeting’ between two rival gangs on Sunday.
DCP (South) Rohini Katoch Sepat said, “We arrested four persons in a murder case in the Subramanyapura police station limits. On investigation, we found Sanjay had an old rivalry with Mukund.”
Learning that Sanjay was in ISRO Layout of Kumaraswamy Layout, the cops went to arrest him. But he resisted and hit Sub Inspector Madhu in the abdomen with a lethal weapon.
Police Inspector Dharmemdra of Konankunte police station fired in the air as a warning, but when the rowdy tried to assault the other officers, he shot him in the leg, DCP Sepat said.
Both SI Madhu and the rowdy were shifted to a hospital and are out of danger.
