Congress Stages Protest at Vidhana Soudha, Accuses BJP of Disrupting Karnataka Legislature Proceedings
Bengaluru, August 21: Congress leaders staged a protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the Vidhana Soudha premises on Friday, accusing BJP legislators of deliberately disrupting proceedings in the Karnataka legislature and preventing discussion on development and public issues.
The protest was held against what the Congress described as repeated disruption of legislative proceedings by the opposition BJP.
Congress leaders alleged that important issues concerning the state’s development and problems faced by the public were not being discussed because of the disruptions. They maintained that the legislature should be used for comprehensive debate on matters affecting the state and for formulating policies and decisions aimed at addressing public concerns.
The Congress also accused the BJP of failing to engage in constructive debate and using disruption of proceedings as a political tool. It said the government was prepared to discuss issues raised in the legislature, but alleged that continued disruptions were affecting the functioning and dignity of the House.
The protesting leaders called on the opposition to act responsibly and allow legislative time to be used for discussions on development, education, farmers, youth and other issues concerning the public.
