In a bid to mediate peace in the troubled region, representatives of Congo’s influential Catholic Church held talks with rebel leader Corneille Nangaa in Goma. Nangaa’s M23 rebels, backed by Rwanda, have seized parts of Eastern Congo, threatening to advance towards Bukavu.
