Tells Siddaramaiah free food facility was being misused
BENGALURU:
To set the record straight on the withdrawal of the free food facility at Indira canteens in Bengaluru, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa called up opposition leader and former CM Siddaramaiah on Monday to explain why the decision was taken.
The CM said the free food facility was being grossly misused and no social distancing was being observed. “Hence, I had to withdrew my earlier order allowing free food at the civic agency-run Indira canteens,” he reportedly told Siddaramaiah.
However, the former CM urged Yediyurappa to continue with the free food services while demanding action against BBMP officials who had allegedly misused the facility. The Chief Minister said he would look into the issue.
Yediyurappa called Siddaramaiah after he had received a requisition letter from the latter on continuing the free food facility for the poor.
Regarding the woes of farmers, farm labourers and locals during the current lockdown, Siddaramaiah called for a special relief package. The CM responded positively
