BENGALURU:

Amid the surge in coronavirus cases in Bengaluru, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa is scheduled to review the situation today.

Yediyurappa will be holding a meeting at his home office ‘Krishna’ at 12 noon with the Chief Secretary and officials from the Health Department and BBMP — the latter is directly in charge of Covid-preventive measures in the state capital.

As per reports, Bengaluru currently has 1,272 positive cases, of which 796 are active in nature and are being treated at various designated hospitals in the city.

Bengaluru has also reported the highest count of 64 deaths in the state, which includes three cops who died recently.

“The government is reviewing the situation. The surge in the number of positive cases is being seen after Unlock.1 and various relaxations announced by the state government since the first week of June,” said an officer.
