CM lauds nurses’ key role in Covid war
Without nurses, system would collapse: Minister
BENGALURU:
Nurses are key frontline warriors in the fight against Covid-19, noted Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday. He was addressing a function from his home office ‘Krishna’ to mark Florence Nightingale’s bicentennial anniversary and International Nurses’ Day organized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the nurses and appealed to them to continue to render their selfless service in the fight against the coronavirus.
Medical Education Minister Dr. K.Sudhakar said the role of the nurses in the fight against the coronavirus is so large that without their services, the whole system would have gone for a toss. Dr.Sudhakar noted that the Central government has announced a Rs 50 lakh insurance cover for nurses. The minister said nurses have been renamed ‘Nursing Officers’ in recognition of their service.
ACS Jawaid Akhtar, VC of RGHUS Dr.Sacchidanand, Dean Dr.K.Ramu, Counsellor Shivanand, Senior Nursing Officers and officials were present on the occasion.
