Yediyurappa visits Hosakerehalli, orders quick clearing of drain

BENGALURU:

Within hours of his diktat to the BBMP Commissioner to do a recce of the rain-ravaged Hosakerehalli village in South Bengaluru, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa decided to see things for himself and visited the area on Saturday.

Following his visit, with Revenue Minister R Ashoka, BBMP Administrator Gaurav Gupta and BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad in tow, the CM announced cash relief of Rs 25,000 to each of the affected houses in the area.

Earlier on Saturday morning, Manjunatha Prasad had visited the area. Later, Prasad along with Ashoka and Gaurav Gupta briefed the CM at the latter’s residence. The CM’s compensation will be disbursed by BBMP in the next few days.

The CM said he had directed the civic agency to remove all encroachments from the area’s SWD, adding that he had set a deadline of 2-3 days for the work.

CM’s car blockaded

Meanwhile, angry residents, shouting slogans, forced the CM’s convoy to stop near the Dattatreya temple in Hosakerehalli. Yediyurappa came out of his car and heard their complaints, assuring strict action against drain encroachers and early compensation for their losses.
