But will we witness another ‘curfew-like’ reversal?
Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Monday ‘indicated’ that it is ‘unlikely’ that there will be any change in the government’s earlier decision to reopen schools and Pre-University colleges in the state for Classes 10 and PUC 2 from January 1. He was addressing mediapersons before a cabinet meeting on Monday morning.
However, given the recent fiasco when Yediyurappa flip-flopped over a night curfew, parents, children and school managements will obviously be in a wait-and-watch mode.
‘Will once again discuss’
In act, there was a glimpse of hesitation on the government’s part when the CM added, “We have said that they will open from January 1. I don’t think there will be any changes. I will once again discuss and finalise.”
The government had earlier this month also decided to restart the ‘Vidyagama’ programme for government schools from January 1. The programme enables continued learning for students from classes six to nine with all Covid-related precautions in place.
