Ban entry to Cubbon Park, Lalbagh, says walkers’ group

BENGALURU:

Amid the increase in coronavirus cases in the city, another worry is the sight of many morning walkers flouting mask and social distancing rules in Bengaluru’s biggest lung spaces — Cubbon Park and Lalbagh.

In a reluctant but safety-driven response, the Cubbon Park Walkers Association has called for a ban on walkers within the iconic park.

The association has shared photographs with the media showing walkers, including children, blatantly ignoring the safety guidelines.

Association president and advocate S Umesh said they are in support of a government ban on entry to the park. “We have noticed that walkers, including senior citizens, are flouting safety norms in Cubbon Park, Lalbagh and other parks. Hence, it is high time for the government to act,” he said.
