CET results on Aug 20; no change in fees, seat matrix: DCM

The results of the CET will be announced on August 20, Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwath Narayan, who is also Minister for Higher Education, said on Monday.

He was speaking to reporters after a meeting with COMED-K and minority college representatives.

There will be no hike in fees in view of the prevailing pandemic and flood situation. Besides, the parties concerned have agreed that the seat-sharing ratio will be as of the previous year.

For the first time in the history of CET, the results are going to be announced after just 19 days, the DCM said.

Same ratio

Sharing of seats will continue in the 45:30:25 ratio, where the government’s share is 45%, COMED-K’s share 30% and NRI/management quota 25%, the DCM said.

There will be two types of fees. In one, the fee will be Rs 65,360 for CET students and Rs 1,43,748 for COMED-K students. In another, the fee will be Rs 58,808 for CET students and Rs 2,01,960 for COMED-K students.

Online counseling

The counselling process will be completed by the end of October. Students can take counselling from their respective places and do not need to come to Bengaluru. There will be two rounds of counselling and one round of extended counselling, and there will be no additional round of counselling, the DCM said.

Transparency will be maintained in the entire process and this time CET counselling will be conducted after NEET and JEE counselling, the DCM said.

Panduranga Shetty, Dr Hemachandra Sagar, CM Lingappa and Shafi Ahammad represented the private educational institutions. Dr Ramana Reddy, ACS (Higher Education) and Karisiddappa, Vice-Chancellor, VTU, attended the meeting online. Venkataraja, Executive Director, KEA and V Pradeep, Commissioner, Department of Collegiate Education, attended the meeting.
