BENGALURU:
On Saturday, protests by several Kannada groups opposing the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu continued on around the city for the third day in a row. Among the protesters at Mysore Bank circle were former BJP chief ministers B S Yediyurappa and Basavaraj Bommai.
The state administration was questioned by Basanagouda Patil Yatnal during a protest organised by the BJP at the Mysore Bank circle about why water was provided to Tamil Nadu ahead of the Supreme Court’s decision.
B S Yediyurappa, Basavaraj Bommai, Dr. C N Ashwath Narayan, Govind Karjol, Bangalore Central MP PC Mohan, MLAs, and MLCs were among the party leaders who participated in the protest.
Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Praveen Shetty faction) activists staged a demonstration from the toll booth to the border post at the Attibele checkpoint on National Highway-48, which connects Hosur and Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu, and then attempted to block the highway. The police did however detain them. They had earlier chanted anti-Karnataka MP chants while holding empty pots.

Activists of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Narayana Gowda faction) staged a protest on Hosur road at Electronics City and raised slogans against the state and central government. They also burnt the Tamil Nadu government in effigy and said that they are ready to go to Delhi and stage a protest against the Centre.
