Cauvery Water Supply to Be Disrupted in Bengaluru on June 19 Due to Emergency Works

Date:

Bengaluru: Residents of Bengaluru are advised to brace for a 24-hour disruption in Cauvery water supply across BBMP limits on June 19, as the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) undertakes crucial emergency and maintenance work.

According to BWSSB officials, the shutdown is necessary for the connection of a new 3000 mm diameter pipeline to the Cauvery Stage V project at T.K. Halli, as well as for annual power plant maintenance and other emergency works mandated by the Karnataka Electricity Transmission Corporation (KPTCL).

The shutdown will begin at 6:00 AM on Thursday, June 19, and continue until 6:00 AM on Friday, June 20. During this period, all water treatment plants under Cauvery Water Supply Project Phases I to V will remain non-operational.

As a result, there will be a complete disruption of Cauvery water supply across the Greater Bengaluru Urban Area, affecting residential, commercial, and industrial zones.

Authorities have urged all citizens and establishments to store sufficient water in advance and use it judiciously during the shutdown window.

The BWSSB emphasized that the temporary disruption is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted and improved water supply in the long term for Bengaluru’s growing population.
