Camp at taluk level to check Covid, CM orders officials

BENGALURU:

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has directed the district authorities to camp at taluk centres, to strengthen vigil around the homes of quarantinees and to book people violating quarantine.

At a video conference on Tuesday with DCs, ZP CEOs and SPs of the badly-affected Kalaburagi, Vijayapura, Udupi, Yadgir, Raichur and Belagavi districts, he told them to apportion taluks among themselves and camp there to supervise Covid-control measures.

Pointing out that positive cases were increasing in the state because of returnees from Maharashtra, he called constables to be posted near homes of quarantines, surveillance by GP-level appointees, and daily reports at the booth level.

Asking border district officials to be extra vigilant over illegal entry into the state, the CM stressed that bodies of deceased persons should not be allowed in, come what may.

Among those present at the video conference were Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Revenue Minister R Ashoka and Chief Secretary T M Vijay Bhaskar.
