Cabinet Approves ₹10,000-Crore SME Growth Fund for Equity Investment

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet has approved a ₹10,000-crore SME Growth Fund to support small and medium enterprises through direct equity investment, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on October 6.

The fund is intended to help enterprises expand, adopt technology and enter global markets, with the government linking those objectives to greater employment opportunities.

Equity support for business growth

An official graphic attached to Shah’s announcement says the government will commit ₹10,000 crore to an Alternative Investment Fund for direct equity investment in SMEs.

Shah said the Cabinet decision would strengthen the sector and support its next phase of growth. His announcement highlighted expansion, technology adoption and access to overseas markets as the areas the investment would support.
