Bus fares to be increased 12% from Wednesday

The three Bus Transport corporations have decided to implement increased bus fares by 12% with immediate effect from Wednesday.

The state government, transport department have its nod to increase the bus fares. The nod was given after a proposal was sent in February 4, earlier this month.

According to the press release issued by the KSRTC, the new fares will not be applicable for students and Physical Challenged. Further, the fares for first 6kms is not increased while in ordinary services, the fares for the first 12 to 15kms is not increased.

Elaborating more details, the fares were last revised in the year 2014 and done then high speed diesel rates has increased by Rs 11.27 per litre. The corporation was under financial burden of Rs 601.21 crore.
