BS Prahallad is now Bengaluru Smart City project Chief Engineer
Fall-out of Karnataka CM’s unhappiness with slow pace of Bengaluru infra work
BENGALURU:
In a major development on the city’s infrastructure front, BBMP’s Chief Engineer BS Prahallad has been elevated as Chief Engineer, Bengaluru Smart City Limited.
Prahallad will continue to hold charge as BBMP Chief Engineer (Road Infrastructure) and Storm Water Drains.
ACS (UDD) Rakesh Singh, who is also Bengaluru Smart City project chairman, issued an order relieving S Ranganath Nayak as the project’s Chief Engineer and appointing Prahallad in his place.
The change comes after a review meeting chaired by Rakesh Singh on Friday. It may be recalled that on Wednesday, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had expressed unhappiness over the slow pace of the Smart City project work.

Singh by his order has tasked Prahallad with ensuring that all pending works are completed in due time.
‘Clear debris’
Further, action should be taken to avoid any obstructions to the movement of the public and vehicles ahead of the ‘Covid Unlock’ process beginning in Bengaluru from June 14. “Clear debris lying on the road during excavation. Traffic obstruction on roads and footpaths should be removed. Proper barricading to be done to avoid any hurdles,” the order reads.
