Bengaluru: Blackstone has opened a global capability centre (GCC) in Bengaluru and leased 4.5 lakh square feet in the Outer Ring Road technology corridor, Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge said on Thursday.
The centre will support the asset manager’s global operations across finance, technology, human resources, legal and compliance, he said.
Kharge described Blackstone as the world’s largest alternative asset manager, with nearly $1.4 trillion in assets under management. He said the expansion comes as the company plans to increase its investments in India from $51 billion to $100 billion over the next five years.
The minister said Bengaluru has more than 1,100 GCCs and attracts nearly one in every three new GCCs coming to India. He attributed that position to sustained investment in talent, policy and the city’s technology ecosystem.
