BJP Spokesperson Prakash Sesharaghavachar Opposes Bengaluru ‘Tomatina Festival’, Seeks Police Denial of Permission
Bengaluru: BJP spokesperson Prakash Sesharaghavachar has opposed a proposed “Tomatina Festival” in Bengaluru and urged the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner’s office to deny permission for the event, warning of protests if it is allowed to proceed.
In a post on his Facebook wall, Sesharaghavachar said a similar attempt had been made about 10 years ago and claimed that the event was cancelled following opposition led by then Jayanagar MLA Vijay Kumar.
He said another attempt was now being made to organise such an event and asserted that it should not be allowed under any circumstances.
Sesharaghavachar objected to the use of food for entertainment, saying food should be treated with reverence and should not be used for revelry.
He called on the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru, to refuse permission for the programme and warned that protests would be held otherwise. He also sought action against DPAR officials who, according to him, permitted the event to be held at Palace Grounds.
The promotional image shared with the post advertises a “Tomatina Festival” in Bengaluru on September 6 from 12 noon at Pebble, The Jungle Lounge, Palace Grounds. The poster promotes a tomato war, live DJ, food and drinks, games and other activities.
