Biocon Foundation contributes Rs 65 crore for Hebbagodi metro station
MoU signed between Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and BMRCL MD Ajay Seth

Biocon Foundation, the CSR arm of Biocon Ltd, will contribute Rs 65 crore towards the construction of the Hebbagodi metro station on Hosur Road. An MoU to the effect was signed on Thursday by Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, founder and managing trustee, Biocon Foundation, and Ajay Seth, Managing Director, BMRCL.
In recognition of Biocon Foundation’s contribution, BMRCL plans to request the state government to name the station ‘Biocon Hebbagodi Metro Station’.
Speaking on the occasion, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw said, “Through our contribution of Rs 65 crore, we are fulfilling our responsibility towards environmental sustainability by providing an alternative means of mobility for the citizens of Bengaluru.”
Ajay Seth said, “BMRCL is committed to and is working actively to add 128 km of new metro network in the coming five years.”
The Hebbagodi metro station is part of the new line of 18.82 km from RV Road to Bommasandra (Reach 5) being constructed under Phase II of the Bengaluru metro rail project at a cost of Rs 5,744 crore. A foot overbridge connecting the unpaid area of the metro station concourse to the other side of Hosur Road will provide access to metro commuters and the general public.
