Five deaths statewide on Sunday, three in Bengaluru
BENGALURU:
Five deaths, including three in Bengaluru, and a total of 176 new cases of the coronavirus were detected in the state on Sunday.
Karnataka’s tally of Covid-19 infections is now 7,000. Bengaluru city topped the table with the highest number of new infections at 42.
Of the 7,000 cases, 3,955 have been cured while 2,956 continue to receive treatment at dedicated Covid hospitals.
The bulletin released by the Karnataka Health department said a resident of Bidar district died in Hyderabad but his body was brought back to Bidar for the funeral.
The deceased is listed as P-7000 and he tested positive — his samples were taken just before his funeral.
“76-year-old male resident of Bidar district, was at Hyderabad, a HTN, died at his residence in Hyderabad on 06-06-2020, body was brought to Bidar for funeral, sample collected on same day, and his lab report confirmed positive for COVID-19 on 13-06-2020,” the report reads.
The three deaths reported in Bengaluru are as follows:
“P-6876 (57 years, female patient, resident of Bengaluru Urban district. Diagnosed as SARI, complained of fever and cough, known case of DM & HTN. She was admitted on 11.06.2020 at the designated hospital, Bengaluru Urban. Died on 12.06.2020).”
“P-6882 (50 years, male patient, resident of Bengaluru Urban district. Returnee from Tamil Nadu, complained of fever. He was admitted on 10.06.2020 at the designated hospital, Bengaluru Urban. Died on 13.06.2020).”
“P-6901 (60 years, female patient, resident of Bengaluru Urban district. Diagnosed as SARI, complained of breathlessness & wheezing, known case of HTN & DM. She was admitted on 09.06.2020 at designated hospital, Bengaluru Urban. Died on 11.06.2020).”
The other death is reported from Dakshina Kannada. “P-6848 (24 years, male patient, resident of Dakshina Kannada district. Returnee from Maharashtra, known case of CKD & HTN. He was admitted on 12.06.2020 at private hospital, Dakshina Kannada. Died on same day).”
176 positive cases on Sunday
Out of the 176 infected cases reported, 88 are interstate returnees from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, while 16 have returned from the UAE and the Philippines.
The other cases are: Yadagiri (22), Udupi (21), Bidar (20), Kalaburagi (13), Dharwad (10), Ballari (8), Kolar (7) Uttara Kannada (6), Mandya and Dakshina Kannada (5 each), Bagalkot (4), Ramanagar (3), Raichur and Shivamogga (2 each), and Belagavi, Hassan, Vijayapura, Bengaluru Rural and Haveri (one each).
16 are in ICU
Karnataka currently has 16 patients in the ICU, of whom Kalaburagi has 8, Bengaluru has 6, and Vijayapura and Dharwad have one ICU patient each.
